Loving Your LYH Hair
Our 100% raw virgin bundles can last 3+ years with proper care. Follow this guide and your hair will stay soft, full, and luxurious wear after wear.
Quick reminder: raw virgin hair behaves just like your natural hair. The healthier you treat it, the longer it lasts. Avoid harsh shampoos, heavy oils, and excessive heat — that's the secret.
01 Washing
Wash your bundles every 1–2 weeks if installed, or every 4–6 wears for clip-ins. Over-washing strips the natural oils.
Step by Step
- Start by gently detangling with a wide-tooth comb from ends to roots
- Use lukewarm (not hot) water — heat opens the cuticle and causes shedding
- Apply a sulfate-free, color-safe shampoo with downward strokes — never scrub or pile hair on top of your head
- Rinse thoroughly, then apply a moisturizing conditioner from mid-shaft to ends
- Let conditioner sit for 5–10 minutes, rinse with cool water to seal the cuticle
Sulfates, parabens, and protein-heavy products. They strip moisture and cause matting.
02 Conditioning & Deep Treatment
Hair extensions don't get the natural scalp oils your real hair does — so deep conditioning is non-negotiable.
Weekly Routine
- Apply a deep conditioning mask once a week, focusing on mid-shaft to ends
- Cover with a shower cap or warm towel for 20–30 minutes to let it penetrate
- Rinse with cool water and air-dry when possible
- For extra moisture, use a leave-in conditioner daily before styling
Argan oil and jojoba oil are naturally similar to your scalp's sebum — a few drops on damp ends locks in moisture without buildup.
03 Drying
- Air-dry whenever possible — it's the gentlest option
- If you must blow-dry, use the cool or low-heat setting with a heat protectant
- Pat (don't rub) with a microfiber towel or soft t-shirt
- Never sleep on wet hair — wrap it in a silk scarf or bonnet first
04 Styling & Heat
Our raw virgin hair holds curls and straightens beautifully — just be smart with heat.
- Always apply a heat protectant before any hot tool
- Keep flat irons and curling wands at 300–350°F max (150–175°C)
- Use ceramic or tourmaline tools — they distribute heat more evenly
- Limit heat styling to 2–3 times per week to preserve longevity
- Brush with a boar bristle or wide-tooth comb only — no rubber or plastic bristles
For long-lasting curls, use flexi-rods or rollers overnight instead of daily heat. Your hair will thank you.
05 Nighttime Care
How you sleep determines how your hair looks the next morning — and how long your install lasts.
- Always sleep on a silk or satin pillowcase — cotton causes friction and frizz
- Wrap your hair in a silk scarf or bonnet before bed
- For loose styles, gather hair in a loose braid or low pony — never tight
- For wavy/curly textures, apply a light leave-in spray before wrapping
06 Storage Between Wears
Bundles that aren't currently installed need proper storage to stay luxurious.
- Wash and air-dry completely before storing
- Brush gently to remove tangles
- Store in a silk or satin bag — never plastic (causes moisture buildup)
- Keep in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight
- Refresh every few months with a quick rinse and condition
07 What to Avoid
- Chlorine pools & salt water — rinse with cool water immediately if exposed
- Harsh dyes — our hair can be colored, but always have a professional do it
- Excessive heat over 350°F
- Sleeping on cotton without protection
- Brushing wet hair with a fine-tooth comb
